Canon EMEA Strengthens CNA Authorisation
Canon EMEA strengthens its vulnerability countermeasures through CNA authorisation
This will empower Canon EMEA to index and publish cybersecurity vulnerability information relating to Canon products developed in EMEA, by Canon and its affiliate software companies in EMEA, by assigning an internationally recognised CVE (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) ID.
CVE is an international, community-based initiative aimed at discovering vulnerabilities, which are then assigned and published to the global CVE list by CVE Numbering Authorities (CNAs). Information technology and cybersecurity professionals use the CVE record to ensure they are discussing the same issue, and to coordinate their efforts to prioritise and address the vulnerabilities.
Canon EMEA, now a CNA, can assign and publish CVE IDs for Canon EMEA product and service vulnerabilities, speeding up the process of them being identified and judged, and prompting quicker resolutions to EMEA security-related issues.
This news follows the launch of Canon’s global PSIRT (Product Security Incident Response Team) site, for reporting product vulnerabilities in Canon’s consumer and B2B products, directly to Canon’s cybersecurity team. Together, this means Canon can be more responsive in the EMEA region to make quicker resolutions to security-related issues.
“Canon EMEA’s new CNA status complements our Canon Inc’s CNA role, so we can deliver a faster service to our customers in EMEA,” explains Quentyn Taylor, Senior Director of Information Security at Canon EMEA. “This is the next step we’ve taken to demonstrate the importance we place on product security and our continued commitment to delivering the highest standard of security for both our customers and the wider industry.”
Customers can now view Canon EMEA CVE’s through the EMEA PSIRT website: https://www.canon-europe.com/psirt/

First Set of Canon RF-Mount Cinema Prime Lenses
Canon Announces the Company’s First Set of RF-Mount Cinema Prime Lenses
Canon CN-R24mm T1.5 L F Lens |
MELVILLE, N.Y., September 12, 2023 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today the introduction of the company’s first RF-Mount Cinema Prime Lenses for the Cinema EOS System. The new lenses combine high optical performance for 4K and 8K shooting, cinema-style operability, and RF mount communications. The first set of seven RF-Mount Cinema Prime Lenses is only the beginning. Canon plans to swiftly expand the lineup of RF-mount-compatible video production equipment to meet the needs of professional video production of such content as movies, TV, and commercials.
The seven Canon CN-R lenses, with focal lengths and T stops of 14mm T3.1, 20mm T1.5, 24mm T1.5, 35mm T1.5, 50mm T1.3, 85mm T1.3, and 135mm T2.2, are compatible with the two existing RF-Mount Canon Cinema Cameras, the EOS C70 and EOS R5 C. These lenses will allow for RF mount protocol transmission, and just like the EF-Mount Cinema Prime Lenses, operators can control magnification, chromatic aberration correction, peripheral light correction, and a dual-pixel focus guide via camera body operations. In addition, the new lenses also feature lens distortion correction. These features support efficient video production during on-location recording and post-production workflow.
The new lenses are able to achieve high optical performance suitable for use with 4K and 8K cameras by optimally positioning large-diameter aspherical lens elements and lens elements with anomalous dispersion glass. Their compatibility with the full-frame large-format sensor, bright T stop values1, and 11-blade iris helps produce a shallow depth of field for subjects, natural round blurring, and soft image expressions. In addition, unified Cinema EOS color balance throughout the series helps provide consistent color, even when changing lenses.
Designed with an ideal level of ring torque, the new lenses allow for the precise and smooth adjustments often needed during cinema productions. Thanks to a unified design across the series, including the gear position of the operation ring, the diameter of the lens, and the rotation angle (operation angle), lenses can be effortlessly swapped in and out without the need to adjust matte boxes or external focus accessories for each lens. A new coarse surface near the mount provides a comfortable and ergonomic fit in the user’s hand, allowing the lens to be held securely without gripping the operation ring when attaching and detaching different lenses.

Canon CR-N100 4K PTZ Camera and RC-IP1000 Remote Camera Controller
Canon CR-N100 4K PTZ Camera |
Canon CR-N100 4K PTZ Camera and Multi-Camera Management Application
As online meetings, lectures, live events, and seminars become increasingly commonplace, there is a growing need for livestreaming and video recording technology. The CR-N100 camera provides excellent image quality, fast autofocus, and its compacti size allows for easy installation in spaces such as meeting rooms and classrooms. With the addition of the CR-N100 to Canon’s lineup of remote cameras, customers now have greater choices of products that support a wide range of uses, from professional video production to video content use by markets such as corporate, local governments, house of worship, and educational institutions.
The CR-N100 showcases key features that leverage Canon’s history of professional camera technology development, including a 1/2.3” CMOS sensor and a DIGIC DV6 image processor platform that helps to produce 4K/30P high-image-quality video capture. In addition, the camera is equipped with a 20x optical zoom lens with a focal length of 29.3mmー601mmii, supporting image capture ranging from wide-angle to telephoto scenarios. The camera also includes four “scene modes”—Portrait, Sports, Low-light, and Spotlight—which users can choose to create their content based on the subject.
Users can build a complete, versatile production environment thanks to the CR-N100’s support for a variety of video interfaces and IP streaming protocols. The CR-N100 supports NDI|HXiii for high-quality – low latency video and control, SRTiv for secure high-quality video streaming over public networks, and RTP/RTSP/RTMP(s) for live streaming over popular social networks. The CR-N100 also supports Canon’s XC protocol for easy integration into new and existing Canon production environments. The CR-N100 also supports HDMI and the USB Video Class (UVC) transmission standard. UVC allows the CR-N100 to be used as a camera for web conference systems simply by connecting it to a PC via USB.
To help with the initial configuration of supported Canon PTZ, professional video, and cinema cameras, Canon is also releasing the Multi-Camera Management Application (MCMA). MCMA enables users to batch-configure initial camera settings as well as manage cameras, making it ideal for corporate, education, and events that require multi-camera environments, such as live streaming of university lectures and live event broadcasting.
With the Multi-Camera Management Application (MCMA), up to 200 individual camera units can be managed for use in large-scale camera systems. The MCMA streamlines the registration of usernames, passwords, and IP addresses to a camera and the registration of cameras to the RC-IP1000 by executing these procedures all at once, instead of individually. This allows for rapid initial configuration of large-scale systems with minimal workload. What’s more, the status of all connected cameras can be viewed in a convenient list that enables easier execution of operations such as updating firmware, restarting, and initialization.
The Canon RC-IP1000 is a high-end controller that provides multiple functions and easy operation required for professional remote video production workflows, meeting the needs of various environments, including broadcast, house of worship, and live event streaming. The RC-IP1000 was designed with ease-of-use in mind and features direct functional buttons and dials ideally positioned and angled for simple operation, as well as an easily visible 7” touch-panel. The controller supports both IP and serial control, and can remotely perform Pan, Tilt, and Zoom (PTZ) movements, and the user can configure and change settings, including focus, exposure, and image settings. The RC-IP1000 is compatible with popular broadcast industry 12G-SDI input for 4K/60P, as well as visual input via IP and HDMI video output. The touch panel can display live video of cameras in single, 2x2, and 3x3 page layouts from cameras via IP, enabling simultaneous operation of multiple camera units.

Use of So-Called Edible Inks and Icing Sheets with Canon Inkjet Printers
Unlike food preparation devices, Canon inkjet printers and their components, including print heads and ink cartridges, are not made with food-grade plastics, and are not designed or intended to be cleaned or sanitized by conventional means (e.g. with a dishwasher) or with alcohol-based solvents. As such, whether you use so-called edible inks and icing sheets in your Canon inkjet printer exclusively (if purchased new) or occasionally (where so-called edible inks are, or have been, used alternatively with standard inks), a residue of chemicals from the ink and lubricants used in the manufacture of the printer, as well as residue of the so-called edible inks and icing sheets, will inevitably remain as a result of the inability to effectively clean or sanitize the printer. This means that so-called edible inks or icing sheets remaining in the printer could become unsanitary and also that such so-called edible inks and icing sheets could become cross-contaminated with the printer’s standard inks and lubricants, each of which could potentially cause health effects. If you believe you have ingested food contaminated with ink or lubricants from an inkjet printer, we suggest that you seek medical attention immediately.
In addition to potentially causing health effects, because Canon printers are not designed for the purpose of food preparation the use of these so-called edible inks or icing sheets in your Canon inkjet printer could result in reduced print quality, clogging of the printer’s system, or even damage to the printer’s components. If a failure develops in the printer which is attributed to the use of so-called edible inks or icing sheets, Canon reserves the right to refuse to repair, replace or exchange the printer, whether during the original limited warranty period (in accordance with the printer’s applicable warranty terms) or after the limited warranty period expires.

Once again, ahead of the tournament, the power was handed to fans across the world, to illustrate what the sport means to them. The winners of the challenge – from France, Argentina, Uganda, India, and Vietnam – were awarded prizes that included 16 Canon cameras: 12 Canon EOS R50s for the winners of each category and 4 EOS R8s for Canon’s favourites. The photographs can be found on display on the gates of the UNESCO’s headquarters in the seventh arrondissement of Paris until the 6th September, as well as during the tournament at the host cities of this year’s Rugby World Cup.

Canon India Adoption of Nandrampur Bass Village
The new village adoption is the next strategic phase of the initiative’s journey through North India, as Canon successfully completed its 5-year association with Maheshwari Village. Following its adoption in 2018, Canon India’s dedicated efforts across 4Es- Education, Eye Care, Environment and Empowerment, were successful in building a sustainable environment for the community members. A key highlight has been the recognition of the school in Maheshwari as the district’s Model School, benefiting over 1400 students through its facilities.
As part of the ‘Adopt a Village’ initiative launched in 2012, Canon India has been undertaking the overall development of villages across India for a certain period. The initiative has brought widespread impact in the last decade through its 4Es CSR policy as well as infrastructural development, in the adopted villages. At present, Canon India has a total of four adopted villages which includes Nandrampur Bass in Haryana, Parivali in Maharashtra, Annadodi in Karnataka, and Kalyanpur in Kolkata. Encompassing the corporate philosophy of ‘Kyosei’, Canon India aims at contributing to the sustainable future of the community, thereby aiming to strengthen the social fabric of the country.
Mr. Manabu Yamazaki, President and CEO, Canon India, marked the special occasion by visiting Nandrampur Bass and connecting with the community along with Mr. C Sukumaran, Senior Director, Product and Communication, Canon India, and Canon’s senior management. The leadership inaugurated the resource and vocational center and unveiled the new water station in collaboration with Eureka Forbes. They also added a vibrant touch to the celebrations by painting murals on the school’s classroom walls, making education a fun and learning experience for children.
Speaking on the announcement, Mr. Manabu Yamazaki, President and CEO, Canon India, said “At Canon, the spirit of contributing to society has been an integral part of our culture. We are proud of the legacy that ‘Adopt a Village’ initiative has built over the past decade, touching thousands of lives across the country at the grassroot level. One of the prime examples of this has been Maheshwari village, where the improvement in quality of education has had profound impact on the students alongside other remarkable developments which have created economic, social, and environmental ripples. It is heartening and gratifying to experience these firsthand every time we visit these villages and engage with the community. Their smiling face gives us further impetus to work on the next village with stronger grit and ambition.”
“We are delighted to embark on the next chapter in our initiative with the adoption of Nandrampur Bass Village and further establish a fruitful association with them.” he further added.
Adding his thoughts on the occasion, Mr. C Sukumaran, Senior Director, Product and Communication, Canon India said, “Following the successful completion of our mission of making Maheshwari self-reliant, we are committed to building on the initiative’s success in Nandrampur Bass, starting with strengthening of infrastructural development including school and other facilities. With robust groundwork in place, we will focus on maximizing the benefits that the residents of the village derive across our focus areas, for instance, optimal education for all students through materials in resource centers and provision of e-learning. With active involvement of all stakeholders in all our initiatives, our ultimate goal is to empower and enable the local community to stand on their own in the coming years."
Adopt a Village’s new journey with Nandrampur Bass Village
As part of the immediate steps of improvement, Canon India seeks to implement a wide range of activities at the school and the village, under its four core focus areas, including Education, Eye Care, Environment and Empowerment.
- Education would start with improving the infrastructure of the school building and renovating toilets, ensuring basic health and hygiene. Further, a ‘Resource Center’ will be established with access to computer classes and e-learning for children.
- Eye Care would lead to the establishment of a ‘Vision Center’. With Canon’s Vision center, the initiative will enable free of cost eye checkups for the villagers and children, under the supervision of an eye care specialist. The activities under the domain would also include health camps and health related awareness sessions.
- Environment activities would involve regular tree plantation drives, quarterly mass scale village cleanliness drives accompanied with environmental awareness which would be conducted with the involvement of Canon employees. Establishment of kitchen gardens, formation of common garbage pits and installation of solar panels would also be initiated.
- Under Empowerment, digital education will be ensured for youth through a vocational computer center. To support self-sustainable living, skill development courses will also be introduced for community members.
About Canon’s corporate philosophy ‘Kyosei’
Canon India’s CSR endeavors are driven by their corporate philosophy of ‘Kyosei’, which indicates the ‘spirit of living and working together for the common good’, which is considered foremost in the organization’s way of working and day-to-day operations. However, their definition of the word is much broader and encompasses “all people-regardless of their race, religion or culture, harmoniously living and working together for the common good.” Moving forward with this philosophy, they believe in standing in unison when it comes to their commitment to the community and strive to make a positive impact in the society and the environment. The organization is involved in various community welfare programs aligned with their 4Es CSR policy implying Education, Eye Care, Environment and Empowerment, to build progressive self-reliant communities. Along with ‘Adopt a Village’ project, the organization is also associated with SOS Children’s Village across the country to encourage and support the overall development of children in these villages.
