London, 19 June 2023 – As part of its ongoing partnership with the Hillingdon Hospitals Charity, Canon will be helping to raise money to support the development of a new rehabilitation garden for patients at Hillingdon Hospital. Taking place between 19th and 30th June, the online silent auction will offer bidders the opportunity to own outstanding photographic works created by Canon Global Academy students, Canon employees and Canon Ambassador Clive Booth.
For patients undergoing long stays at hospital, having a tranquil, outdoor space they can spend time in is important for supporting recovery through outside therapy. Following the relocation of rehabilitation units to a new location within Hillingdon Hospital, the Hillingdon Hospitals Charity has identified a plot of land to be developed into a dedicated rehabilitation garden to support patients from rehabilitation wards during their recovery.
In partnership with Chelsea Flower Show gold medalist Tom Stuart-Smith, who has created gardens for the Royal Household at Windsor Castle, the Hillingdon Hospitals Charity aims to raise enough money to carry out landscaping on the plot of land to develop a peaceful space where patients and their families can spend time away from the wards in a natural environment. Plans for the garden include making the space fully wheelchair-accessible, planting raised beds with a variety of plants and flowers and installing seating areas throughout.
To help raise the funds needed for the garden, Canon is running an online silent photography auction between 19th-30th June. During the auction, participants will be able to bid on a wide range of stunning photography taken by students participating in the Canon Global Academy, Canon employees, and award-winning photographer and Canon Ambassador Clive Booth. Canon has partnered with Hillingdon Hospital for the last four years as part of its ongoing commitment to making a positive change to society, guided by its corporate philosophy of Kyosei, which means living and working together for the common good.
