TOKYO, November 2, 2020—Canon Inc. announced today that the company's iNSPiC REC was recognized for design excellence by the Hong Kong Design Centre, winning the Bronze Award at the DFA Design for Asia Awards 2020.
The Bronze Award-winning iNSPiC REC camera features a palm-sized compact and lightweight body with a carabineer clip design that delivers superb portability, waterproofing and shockproofing. From outdoor to everyday use, the iNSPiC REC is a light and easy-to-carry concept camera that's ideal for a wide range of scenarios.
The iNSPiC REC's carabineer design allows users to easily clip it on to and remove it from clothing, accessories and other items. Thanks to its key-holder style form, users can easily carry it around and easily point and shoot whenever the mood strikes. The camera realizes a lightweight, compact and portable size, weighing approximately 90 g and measuring approximately 110.5 mm (W) x 45.2 mm (H) x 18.5 mm (D).
The camera is waterproof1 to depths of 2 meters for up to 30 minutes, dustproof (IP68) and shockproof up to 2 meters, making it easy to use and well-suited for the outdoors, sports, oceans and use by kids.
With modern digital photography, it has become commonplace for users to have the ability to see their photos immediately after capturing them. However, the iNSPiC REC opts to forego a display so that users can enjoy viewing their photos at a later time instead. By connecting the camera and a smartphone via the dedicated app2, users' smartphones can view and save captured photos, and even be used for live viewing while shooting.
Canon has participated in the DFA Design for Asia Awards since 2013, having thus far won awards for such products as its Cinema EOS System professional cinematography equipment, video camcorders, cameras and interchangeable lenses. Encouraged by this latest industry recognition, Canon will continue striving to create products that combine the highest levels of performance and design excellence.
