Paired with the ink bottle’s spill-resistant tops, the system is designed to provide seamless and clean usability at home and in the office. This new hybrid integrated system of replenishing ink is cost-effective and offers higher page yield than the prior generation of PIXMA printers. The black ink provides up to 6,000 pages2 per bottle and the total color ink combination provides up to 7,000 pages2. The PIXMA G-series printers’ easy-to-use refillable ink bottles offer substantial ink capacity with 135 ml in the black bottle and 70 ml in each color ink bottle. Another value-added feature for the new PIXMA G-series printers is the initial quick installation set-up timeframe (for ink installation only) which is approximately six minutes3.

"Our PIXMA G-series printer models offer smart design inside and out,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “Expanding the line of PIXMA printers with the added benefit of a built-in refillable ink tank system highlights Canon’s commitment to continuing to enhance the printing experience in businesses and in the home with genuine Canon print reliability.”

Convenient, Customized Printing

One of the key features of the PIXMA G-series MegaTank printers is their overall size and ability to save space. The PIXMA G4200 printer also features an automatic document feeder to easily copy and scan multiple documents without having to load them one page at a time.

Brighter, Borderless Photos…Faster
Utilizing new pigment and dye hybrid inks, the PIXMA G-series printers provide crisp and pronounced black text and vibrant colors for visually impactful printing. Each of the G-series models offers print speeds of up to 8.8 images per minute (ipm) in B/W and 5.0 ipm in color4 and can produce a borderless5 4 x 6-inch photo in approximately 60 seconds6. Canon’s New hdAlbum EZ Service Transforms Photo Book Creation Process

Canon’s New hdAlbum EZ Service Transforms Photo Book Creation Process
Canon’s New hdAlbum EZ Service Can Transform Traditional Photo Book Creation Process Users can create stylish layouts with storylines for photo books with hdAlbum EZ app

MELVILLE, N.Y., December 7, 2016 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the new hdAlbum EZ service, an innovative software solution that allows users to quickly and easily create a photo book keepsake that captures their memories. Building upon the success of the hdAlbum service launched in January 2015, this new hdAlbum EZ service features Canon’s new advanced EAGiAL technology, which automatically selects a user’s photos based on lighting, composition, and face recognition, and creates an elegantly, styled layout with a storyline. The hdAlbum EZ service offers users high-quality printing on the Canon DreamLabo 5000 inkjet production photo printer which produces images with rich, vibrant color and impeccable detail.

Accessible through the hdAlbum EZ App, the software helps reduce the amount of time needed to select shots from a large collection of photos, as well as create and edit a photo book. The hdAlbum EZ App even has a built-in function to automatically capture still frames from video files. This automatic feature has been included in response to the increase of users creating videos in recent years. This technology provides another way to capture compelling, live-action images. The hdAlbum EZ App will be available for compatible computers, tablets and smartphones.

“Sorting through files and selecting quality photos can be one of the most time-consuming steps in photo album creation,” said Toyotsugu Kuwamura, executive vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “The hdAlbum EZ automated software automatically detects and chooses photos for album creation. This time-saving solution provides an intuitive platform for users to best tell their story, while also allowing more time for creativity.”

Canon Survey Results Confirms High Support Satisfaction

Canon U.S.A. Releases Survey Results Confirming Consumer Perceptions of Faster Service Times and Higher Tech Support Satisfaction Over Major Competitor
Canon U.S.A. Releases Survey Results Confirming Consumer Perceptions of Faster Service Times and Higher Tech Support Satisfaction Over Major Competitor

MELVILLE, N.Y., December 5, 2016 – Canon U.S.A., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today the findings from a nationwide third-party blind survey that compared customer perceptions concerning the speed of service and quality of tech support offered by Canon and Nikon. The survey was conducted among photographers (primarily professional, semi-professional, and advanced amateur) in November 2016 and found that customers perceive Canon’s service times to be faster than Nikon’s and that customer satisfaction with tech support is higher for Canon than it is for Nikon.

“Our customers need service they can count on,” said Yuichi Ishizuka, President and COO, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “We are very proud of our achievements in delivering world-class service and support. By making customer service an integral part of our business model, we are positioned to meet and exceed the changing needs and expectations of our customers.”

Key Survey Findings

  • Ultra-Fast Service: 76.9 percent of Canon customers who have had a service experience in the last 18 months indicated that the speed of their service was either ultra-fast or fast compared to 64.7 percent for Nikon.
  • Support Matters: 90.4 percent of Canon customers indicated that they were completely satisfied or satisfied with the technical support they received, as compared to 73.7 percent of Nikon's customers.

Canon has made significant investments in service and support programs and operations, starting with the opening of their first call center in Chesapeake, VA in 1995. The Company prides itself on providing 100 percent in-house U.S. technical support. When it comes to call center operations, keeping all tech support calls in-house allows the Company to tightly control the quality and depth of the tech support provided. Canon maintains full control of its customers’ repair transactions, unlike other industry players that may rely on local third-party service providers to augment their service processing. This is a key differentiator for Canon and is one of the factors that allows the brand to control quick turn-around times and quality service.

About the Ultra-Fast Canon Service & Support Team
  • Support Across the Country: Canon’s Service & Support Network spans from the East to the West Coast (reaching as far as Honolulu, HI) with 10 locations totaling more than 300,000 square feet of space devoted to serving customers. Canon has two call center locations – in Virginia and New Mexico – which boast an average wait time of only 78 seconds to talk to a live tech support representative. There are also three locations in key metropolitan areas that specifically cater to professional customers, in addition to four factory service locations that serve all customers. Canon also has a Customer Care Center, which offers a service drop-off point at its corporate headquarters located in Melville, NY. In the spring of 2017, the Canon Hollywood Professional Technology & Support Center will relocate to Burbank, CA. In this new location, Canon service and support will be enhanced even further to assist the growing number of professional filmmakers and broadcast production clients in Southern California.

  • It’s More Than Just Support: The Canon Experience Center located in Costa Mesa, CA, not only offers service, but is also home to Live Learning workshops and seminars that provide opportunities to learn the latest photography, video, and printing techniques. Additionally, both the Costa Mesa and Lyndhurst, NJ, locations house product showrooms where customers can explore the latest Canon products.

  • 100 Percent U.S.-Based Team: Canon provides 100 percent U.S.-based tech support that is completely in-house staffed with over 600 “all Canon” employees. Canon’s combined nationwide service and support network is comprised of over 1,100 expert service and support team members who maintain full control of service quality and speed of repair transactions.

In addition to announcing the results of this survey, Canon has also launched a new digital advertising campaign that highlights the Company’s knowledgeable tech support staff and efficient service times that average 2.82 days (1.59 days for Canon Professional Services (CPS) Platinum members)1.

About the Survey

A blind survey was conducted between the dates of November 17-22, 2016, resulting in over 2,300 responses from photographers, primarily professional, semi-professional and advanced amateurs. The methodology and results were validated by a third-party expert, Dr. William Bleuel, Ph.D.

Canon announces winner for New Cosmos of Photography 2016 photo competition
Canon announces the Grand Prize winner for its New Cosmos of Photography 2016 (39th edition) photo competition

TOKYO, November 14, 2016—Ms. Kim Sajik, for her work "Story," was declared the Grand Prize winner of Canon’s New Cosmos of Photography 2016 (39th edition) photo competition at a public meeting of the Grand Prize selection committee held at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum on Friday, November 11.

The New Cosmos of Photography accepted entries for the 2016 competition from April 20 to June 15. In addition to conventional photo prints, the range of eligible entries was expanded last year to include online digital works (stills and videos), attracting a record 1,723 submissions from individuals and groups both inside and outside Japan. From those entrants seven Excellence Award winners and 14 Honorable Mention Award winners were selected by the Excellence Award Selection Committee. The Excellence Award winners, as Grand Prize candidates, attended a public meeting of the Grand Prize selection committee held on November 11. Each candidate gave a presentation and faced questioning by the selection committee, after which the committee convened and chose Ms. Kim as the Grand Prize winner.

In addition to ¥1 million (approx. US$ 9,550) in prize money, Ms. Kim was awarded a Canon EOS 5D Mark IV and EF24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lens kit and the right to hold an exhibit of new work at the New Cosmos of Photography 2017 Tokyo Exhibition to be held in fall of next year. Details of the Grand Prize public selection committee meeting will be made available on the New Cosmos of Photography website in mid-January 2017.

The New Cosmos of Photography 2016 Tokyo Exhibition of Excellence Award winners, including Grand Prize winner Ms. Kim, and Honorable Mention Award winners will continue until November 20 at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum.

The New Cosmos of Photography is Canon’s cultural support project to discover, nurture, and support new photographers who pursue new possibilities in creative photographic expression. The annual contest, launched in 1991, has been open to the public regardless of the age or nationality of entrants or the number or format of entered works. As such, the contest encourages the creation of original works that push the boundaries of photography’s potential and systematically assists and nurtures award winners through exhibitions and published collections of their winning works as well as through publicity on the New Cosmos of Photography website. To date, the New Cosmos of Photography contest has accepted 25,701 entries from both individuals and groups, and has turned out a great number of outstanding photographers who are enjoying widespread success around the world. As a result, the contest has come to be regarded today as a gateway to success for new photographers.

About the winning entry
On the concept of her submission, Ms. Kim said, " 'Where am I from?' I asked myself. As a Korean residing in Japan, I didn't know. From there, I started searching for my identity in the traditions of my people. In doing that, I didn't expect to find any new answers, but instead discover 'something' I already knew. This 'something' is all of the connections in me that give rise to a story."

Comments from the Grand Prize winner

After receiving the award, Ms. Kim revealed, "The work that I submitted this time is a concept I have been planning for ten years, so it was slow to take shape. It’s a work where I was able to face my true feelings upfront, without lying to myself. I’m happy that those feelings were carried through in my submission. I’d like to thank the people who looked at my work, and all the people who have been cheering me on until now."

Comments from the selection committee
At a public meeting of the Grand Prize selection committee, Ms. Kim was chosen as the Grand Prize winner. The following is a comment from Mr. Osamu James Nakagawa, a member of the selection committee who selected Ms. Kim’s work at the Excellence Award selection stage: "This time Ms. Kim’s selection for the Grand Prize was unanimous. With this entry she was clearly able to show us what lies at the core of why she makes art. It really conveys what it’s like to look at things from an 'in-between' point of view. I want her to continue producing excellent work that shines a light on Japan’s minority problem."
